Personal Profile

•   Bachelor of Education – University of British Columbia – 1987
•   Diploma in Special Education – University of British Columbia – 2005

I have been committed to DCS since 2001 as a parent, a volunteer, and currently as a teacher. I have 30+ years of experience teaching math, reading, and writing skills to diverse learners of all ages. Intermediate and junior high Math is my favourite teaching area. At DCS, I enjoy working directly with students individually and in small groups, supporting and collaborating with the classroom teachers and educational aides, and meeting parents. On the home front, my husband and I are empty nesters, and we enjoy spending time with our labrador dog, and traveling. We are long-time Ladner residents, and have served in various leadership roles in our home church.

I hold the following personal statement and verses in my overall teaching philosophy: Every student is a unique individual, with different strengths and weaknesses, requiring individual attention. From Romans 12:4-6 “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”
